Aydin Pooli, MD, FACS

Dr. Pooli is a board-certified, UCLA fellowship-trained urologic oncologist who cares for patients across Los Angeles. His practice focuses on prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular cancer, along with female pelvic medicine, reconstructive surgery and the full range of benign urologic conditions.

Dr. Pooli earned his medical degree at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, then completed a research fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He trained in general surgery at Montefiore Medical Center (Albert Einstein College of Medicine) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
During his urology residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center he trained in open, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, reconstructive urology and female pelvic medicine — and developed the interest in urologic cancer that shaped his career.
He then completed a two-year, Society of Urologic Oncology–certified fellowship at UCLA’s Institute of Urologic Oncology, David Geffen School of Medicine, focusing on complex urologic cancers, gene-expression testing for high-risk prostate and kidney cancer, and surgical outcomes research.
Today he brings that UCLA-level care to the community. He takes part in clinical trials that widen access to new treatments for underrepresented patients, and champions same-day procedures for enlarged prostate — GreenLight laser (PVP), TURP, Rezum and UroLift — with a practice designated a UroLift Center of Excellence. He also treats overactive bladder and incontinence with bladder Botox and sling surgery.

Robotic surgery
A dedicated robotic surgical team
Dr. Pooli performs robotic surgery for prostate, kidney, bladder and ureter conditions using the da Vinci system. He works with an experienced surgical team that cares for you from your pre-operative visit through recovery.
Robotic surgery uses a few small incisions instead of one large one, which for many patients means less pain, less blood loss, a shorter hospital stay and a faster return to normal activity.
